THE HISTORY OF 100 BLACK MEN

In 1989, a small group of African American men and women held a series of informal meetings about the plight of our youth in the Greenville area and the quality of life in the Mississippi Delta as a whole. Questions were asked about what could be done to improve the quality of life for African American youth in the Mississippi Delta. The group unanimously agreed that the quality of life for the African American youth must be determined primarily by concerned and dedicated African Americans. Furthermore, African American Men must lead and play a vital and significant role in the process. The group resolved to form the organization now known as the 100 Black Men of the Mississippi Delta, Incorporated, as a non-profit organization.
